What We Believe_
We believe God is understood in three distinct persons.
You’ll hear us use Father, Son, and Holy Spirit to refer to the threefold nature of God.
We believe in one God, who created the world.
We believe that God is sovereign (the supreme ruler of the universe) and that God created all that is in this world.
We believe that Jesus was both divine and human.
Jesus lived as a man, was crucified, buried, and resurrected. He is divine. He is the son of God. We believe that the risen Christ lives today. We believe that Jesus is Savior of the world; that in Christ we receive abundant life and forgiveness of sins. We believe that Jesus is our Lord and that we are to model our lives after Him.
We believe that the Holy Spirit is God with us.
The Holy Spirit is our comfort in times of need and convicts us when we stray away from God. We believe that the Holy Spirit quickens us to God’s will and empowers us to live faithfully.
We believe that we are created in God’s image.
We believe that we have the ability to accept or reject a relationship with God. God’s desire is for all to come to know the love, mercy, and grace that was evident on the cross.
We believe that the church is the body of Christ.
We believe that our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ so that our world can be transformed. The Church exists both locally and universally. We are a local congregation but we are connected to the larger body of believers. The church is the “communion of saints”, made up of all past, present, and future disciples of Christ. We are called to worship God, distribute God’s grace, and support those who claim Christ as they grow in the faith.
We believe that the Bible is God’s Word.
The Bible is our primary authority for our faith and practice. We are to know and study both the Old Testament and the New Testament. Scripture is to be rightly handled, appropriately applied, and diligently studied.
